Ireland, One Photo at a Time

Ireland is more than a place on a map, or a country in Western Europe.  For those of us who love this little bit of green heaven on earth the pictures of the countryside can create a longing, and much like the Irish music that echos from the pubs and homes and is almost inhaled by all who live in this grand North Atlantic island it can create such a craving to revisit this place again and again.

The picture below was taken on the day we went to the Rock of Cashel.  We walked the roads to the Rock, and back to the town below.  Cashel is a whole experience in itself but the town and surrounding fields in April was such a beautiful experience for me.

So, here's a little piece of Ireland for you.  It's a lovely taste of the place - from me, to you.

  1. I've always heard Ireland is green. The land sure is green in these two pictures!

  2. All of Ireland really was a very emerald green while I was there in April. Even the moss, which here can be almost a pea green is a deep green there. It's totally beautiful and almost unreal sometimes.

  3. Jo,
It really was beautiful. I can close my eyes and see so much of it still.

  4. My great-grandfather was Irish, but our family never celebrated its Irish side. The photos suggest that that was a mistake!!!

  6. ChrisJ,
It is the most beautiful place and the people are phenomenal! I am what I consider a good part Irish, but I live in the Dutch town of Holland, Michigan and it is very easy to get lost in the shuffle here. I have gotten to be almost militant in my Irishness to not get buried in the, "If you're not Dutch you're not much," culture. For me to get to Ireland was a dream I've had since I was a kid, and this trip continues to develop through the pictures I took that still seem to generate memories almost daily for me.

    Dianne,
I so enjoyed your article! Working dogs are a gift in the lives of so many handicapped people and I appreciated your take on that very special story. Thanks for coming by and commenting!

  7. Ciss, I'm really tickled to run into you first on the WZZM blog about guidelines. I really do love that station so I thought I would look you up. I have a dear friend Bonnie that is a writer also. She is the most talented person I know. Anyway, I will give her your blogger address. She is a very sweet Christian that I've known 40 years. I will talk to you soon. (I love what you have done here).

  9. I love that last photo with the break in the fence. Most of what I know about Ireland comes from what I remember hearing in the news a couple of decades ago or so and then of course the movies and books written about it. Such a rich country with wealth of a different kind!
